Interview with Sheepyy

Can you introduce yourself?
-What’s up guys, Eric Psy... Sheepii here.

What’s your name, where are you from, what do you do in real life etc.
-My name is Matt or Sheepii, I’m from the US, I currently live in Boston, and I’m a software engineer who specializes in quantum engineering.

How did you start your Tibian journey?
-When I was a kid, we had a recreation hall that had a bunch of basement dwelling nerds in it. The basement was a computer lab that had various games on it, warcraft 3, ages of empires, you could surf the internet, and you would sign up for blocks of time, like you did at libraries. I saw a friend playing a level 60 sorcerer on Primera. So, I asked him what game he was playing and made an account. I was a kid, and I didn’t know at the time that it was going to be a huge part of my life. I started on Rookgaard on Elysia with a few friends and we made it to level 19 on Rookgaard.
In Rookgaard, I met a bunch of Rookgaardians, who really sealed the deal for me. They spoke of the Iron Helmet and Sword of Fury quest on Rookgaard, and I was fascinated with the idea of an untold story and that was enough for me to fall in love with the game.

What is the origin of your name?
-This is actually a story that I don’t tell people often, because I’m not too proud of it. My childhood best friend had a girlfriend. I hated this girl, because I thought for one way or another, she was driving a wedge between the man that I’ve known since I was little. One day, I came over and she decided to give me a nickname, and that nickname was “Sheepii”. We got in a huge fight, and that was probably the last time I saw my childhood best friend. I believe they’re married now. Maybe, next is making amends. But, I wore the nickname as a kind of badge of shame.

What made you decide to become a rares collector?
-I knew what these items meant to other people. I had seen several pictures of the Tibianic, and I wanted to recreate the event for the Red Rose. Which, I did.

Which item were you the proudest of?
-My wedding ring. Those items are legendary, yes. I know it sounds sappy, but the wedding ring was a memory before all the glamour, it was one of the few interactions I knew for certain that was real and authentic.

Which item was the hardest to let go?
-All of the items were relatively easy to let go. To you, they’re monuments of history, relics of time. To me, they were a constant reminder that I had to meet people’s expectations, and I sincerely did not want to be that person.
But, I came to the decision very easily. About two years ago, my mom had a cancer scare, and she cried to me on the phone. She didn’t have the money to afford chemo.. I’m hesitant to say what happened next because of obvious reasons, but I think you can connect the dots.

Which was the most expensive item you purchased?
-The Rose Shield. I won’t say how much I bought it for, but it was such a high offer, that none of the other items had even come close and what makes it kind of funny is, I gave that item away. What I said before I gave it away (At a Red Rose meeting):

Greetings everyone,

Before I begin, I would like to thank all of you for being here. As many of you know, I am an ex-Rose member, who met a lot of you in real life. I am stubborn, argumentative, and loyal to a fault, and those qualities drove me from this guildhall, but never from this family. Despite all of that, I still consider this family my own, regardless of wearing a title. While many people know me from the community and throughout Tibia, the Red Rose will always be my roots. It’s not often that a guild in a video game, not only helps you reevaluate yourself as a person, but helps nurture your best qualities.

Name Redacted, out of all the people I’ve met in this guild, no one has matched your mature and calming demeanor, your honor in virtue, and your unmatched loyalty to your friends and family. You were one of two people I met in this guild, when I first met the Red Rose. You were kind, professional, and classy. You embodied everything I thought the Red Rose was, and my opinion has never changed. You are deserving of your leadership role, and you understand the merits that comes with the responsibility of that role.  Above all, you’re a great friend and I hope anyone who crosses paths with you is lucky enough to have the privilege to see the same.

In my possession is one item, that is a relic of the Red Rose. Effective immediately, I am retiring from Tibia. As such, I made a promise to the Red Rose guild, that this item, although technically mine, would return to the Red Rose if I ever decided to leave Tibia permanently. Today is that day.

I will bestow the Rose Shield to Name Redacted, a friend, a mentor, and a brother. Under the conditions that you never sell this shield, and it can only be given to a Rose member if you feel it should not belong to you any longer, giving these same conditions to those who you grant it to. From this day forth, this shield shall be yours. I will not return for it, it is my gift to you.

Do you understand and accept these conditions, Name Redacted?

The first message is a reference to a bitter argument I had with members of the Red Rose that resulted in me leaving. It wasn’t actually until this day, the day I had given the Rose Shield, that I had made amends with those people. I later that year, rejoined the Red Rose.

Have you ever been scammed?
-On Tibia, no. I’ve had several people who tried though, haha.

There are people who consider you a legend, what do you think about it and how does it feel?
-I’m just a normal guy. The items are legendary, I am not.

You managed to trick people into believing you had Boots of Waterwalking, how did you come up with the idea?
-I still get people to this day to ask me to show them how to get the “boots of waterwalking”, haha. As a content creator, you just need to come up with ideas that you think people will like.
There’s really no thought process, just understanding the people you’re around, what they want, and being a fool about it.

Do you think it’s good to be open to people in the game or is it better to keep private things to yourself?
-I suppose it depends on the context of the question.
I believe being authentic with people is important because I don’t want people to get the wrong idea of who I am, or what I mean when I say something. But, that doesn’t mean I have to tell everyone everything. A lot of keeping the mystery is well... keeping the mystery. It’s not always easy, but I think sometimes it inspires people enough to find out for themselves. That being said, I have never treated people differently. I regularly speak to random people who find me “legendary”, to perhaps convince them that I’m just an ordinary guy.

Is there any other rares collector that you ever competed with or admired in any way?
-Lightbringer and Darth Saldria were inspirations. There was no one in direct competition with me, as far as I know.

“Once a Tibian, always a Tibian”, what do you think about this saying?
-There’s a lot of truth to it. Tibia is more than a game for me. I met a lot of people that have significantly changed my life on this game, and the memories that have defined who I am.

Why did you decide to stop playing Tibia?
-I wasn’t happy and instead of doing what everyone else does, and just endures, I decided to make a change. I never regretted it. Tibia is and will always be a huge part of my life, but it’s the people who made it for me, not the game, and the people are still in my life, just not the game.

Do you think you will ever come back to Tibia?
-Never say never. Tibia, as I’ve said before, is a huge part of my life. I still talk to important people in my life who ritually play the game. Like Addled. Follow Addled at https://twitch.tv/addled, great streamer.

The Tibian Experience in 2020

The last year has been an extraordinary year in many respects. 2020 was full of new challenges, with the pandemic accompanying us throughout the months. While contact in the real life took a backseat in certain ways due to social distancing, virtual connections, not least in Tibia, flourished. Meeting new acquaintances, reconnecting with old friends, experiencing memorable and emotional moments together, all of that strengthened the bond between Tibians. Playing with others was and is a staple in the lives of many, especially in the times of COVID-19.

Now it is time to share some of these memories. Cipsoft wants to know what unforgettable things you have experienced in the last year in Tibia. From today on, January 20, until January 27, they invite you to write about your favourite personal Tibian experience in 2020 in the thread linked to this news – for instance, who or what helped you during this year, what brought you joy, what made you laugh? Tell them in 400 words or less. Please make sure not to include real life data like real names, place of residence etc. in your post.

After the seven days have passed, the thread will be closed and the community managers will pick their favourites. Each of them will choose 5 posts, after which the top 5 posts overall will be determined by all community managers together. Each of the top 5 will receive a CM token, 1000 non-transferable Tibia Coins and a hero's medal. Each of the other posts that have been picked but did not make the top 5 will receive a CM token and 250 non-transferable Tibia Coins. The top 5 posts will also be compiled in a featured article afterwards.

Cipsoft is looking forward to reading all your heartwarming, encouraging and remarkable anecdotes and stories!

3 TIPS FOR ENJOYING PVP COMPETITION

Tibia-PVP is a game of skills as any other strategy-tactical game. Skills don't happen to be acquired over the night, thus, it requires some practice to get to be an outstanding PVP player. Nevertheless, some people's progress is thwarted by the overwhelming competition perceived among the most experienced players and consequently, they decide to give up on PVP.

As you may know, in most gaming communities you can find that the players may be competitive towards other players, and tibia's community is no exception, nevertheless, this is not necessarily a bad thing! and in this article, we'll give you tips and show you how enjoyable your gaming experience can be, once you know all of this, especially the PVP side of the tibia which is most enjoyable!

1. ACKNOWLEDGE WHO YOU ARE AND WHO YOU ARE NOT

This is very important! Be sure to know exactly who you are and who/what you are not, make a list of all your qualities and make one list of all your faults if it's needed, as detailed as possible; so if the day comes when a person tells you words of discouragement, you'll instantly know if they're right or wrong! If they are right, well ... you already knew it, and have been doing quite alright so far, haven't you?! And if they are wrong, don't bother to convince them otherwise, they won't care/understand it anyways 😊

2. DON'T GET DRAGGED INTO ANYONE'S GAME (HEALTHY COMPETITION)

Don't get dragged into their game, you'll stop enjoying your gaming! It's possible that if you're new in the "online gaming world", you are most likely new into the online gaming competition(negativity) and in this case let me tell you how easy it is to get dragged into this plot, which only makes a snowball of negativity. Healthy competition is good, it makes you want to work harder and be better; any other type of competition we recommend you to discard it! The best thing to do is to enjoy your gaming in tibia, by yourself or with your friends, every day and in every aspect!

3. BE STRONG & PRACTICE

If you're in a war you're either fighting for something you want/believe or simply enjoying the PVP with your friends because you like it; in either scenario, we would encourage you to be strong if you find that you enjoy it!

In war, there's always the possibility of dying one, two... x times. Don't get bothered by this! If you practice and learn from your mistakes, these are the best situations to practice! Don't get discouraged by losing pixels exp, or by other people trying to discourage you; rather, think of how much you'll enjoy conquering your victory alongside with your friends!

FIND OUT WHAT KIND OF PVP PLAYER
YOU ARE!

1. What would most likely be the reason you'd join a war?

a) You feel like trying PVP
b) You want rights over respawns X
c) There's a person you don't like on the enemy side

2. You've been waiting for a respawn for an hour and finally, it's your turn. What would you do if someone (anyone) comes to hunt over you?

a) I'd ask him how long he'll stay and depending on which guild he/she is in, I'd consider coming back later.
b) I'd tell him it's my hunt and expecting him to leave. If he doesn't I'd leave to not waste my bonus stamina, but I'd consider him/her my enemy.
c) I'd not leave, if I'm wasting my bonus stamina, so will they. It's rightfully my turn to hunt there.

3. Your friend got into a fight with a neutral player, you know he's wrong but he is asking you to go and PK them. What would you do?

a) I'd help him. War is war and they must respect it.
b) I'd ignore my friend and the neutrals, ain't nobody got time for that.
c) I'd let him know he is wrong and tell him I'd not take part in his fight unless he finds a better way to solve it.

4. You fought a war and once the server is dominated they ask for 25TC per month of Guild Bank. How would you feel about this?

a) I think is a good way to maintain the organization within the team and keep on with the hierarchy
b) Why would I pay guild bank if I fought the war also? X
b) I don't mind giving the leaders 25 TC for the leaders, I can do that amount during my hunts

5. You have a personal problem with a person from the enemy guild. What would you go on about this?

a) I'll make sure my guild knows what kind of person this is, so everyone would be into disturbing their gameplay
b) I'd find their social media and make fun of their appearance, this way they'll quit playing tibia
c) Whenever I can, I'll interrupt their gaming. They'll regret messing with me.

Bugfixes and changes

A couple of issues have been fixed with today's patch: Tentugly's tentacles may no longer throw players out of the boss fight upon spawning. Eremo is now the only one who sells the promotion spell Divine Dazzle. The message "You are not the owner" now also appears while using the new quick looting extension from the winter update when trying to loot a corpse that does not belong to you. A few map issues have been fixed as well.

Quirefang - Island of achievements

In the current time, little is left of the rich history of Quirefang. Most of the surface is covered by the sentient Hive, and only some metal walls and floor in the underground areas of the Hive bear witness to the old research laboratory. Few ancient books in the libraries of Fiehonja are left that talk about Qjell's first and second coming. Visitors to the island are greeted by Rockboys, seemingly sentient rocks, that - as it turns out - are merely hollow rocks connected to the Navigator's funnels, through which he influences the player to create chaos and drive both species close to extinction, acting as the Navigator's puppet.

Quirefang, an island which is shrouded in mysteries. You can find here many activities to be performed, such as finishing your Bestiary, doing Quests. Ever heard of Jekhr, the Deepling language? In Fiehonjas Library you can learn about it. North of Gray Beach, there is a living insect nest, called The Hive, where some buzzing bosses may appear. We will focus today on achievements that we can get there, in total amount of 87 achievement points.

We asked achievement hunters from Antica about their experiences with Quirefang. Let’s start with The Hive.

Essiee: My last achievement in Quirefang was ”Manic”, which describes the whole achievement grind of the area pretty well.

Ryude/Elyrea: In the Hive, stage 1 tasks were a lot of fun to me. You can start them on a fairly low level, around level 100 on any vocation. It's a quick run of roughly 3 minutes for 3 task points total, and depending on other players in the area you always have to adjust your route and there's some quick thinking involved. On the other side, stage 2 tasks take too long and the addition of Spitters, Spidris and Kollos ramps up the difficulty. For those, I wish there was a system similar to some tasks of the Oramond quest - where you just keep picking roots and exchange them all at a later point in time.

In the first stage of the Hive, we can gain 12 achievements which are worth 36 points. Second stage tasks will give us 6 achievements which are 18 points in total. Is it enough for the effort given? Essiee comes with an answer!

Essiee: I think the amount of achievement points for the tasks is pretty fair. Sure, it is a rather big grind to complete all of them, but in the end it’s definitely worth it. In my opinion for the first stage tasks the points could have even been a little bit lower. It’s a bit silly that it is same amount of points for all tasks, when they don't require the same amount of effort.

Achievements from War against the Hive are the ones that are really timeconsuming. However, they have some advantages.

Veneficus: Apart from just doing tasks to gain War Exp (needed for the outfit) Favour points are also obtained which can be used to pass the Hive Gates. This brings some benefits, like a chance to obtain a Four-Leaf Clover from gooey masses which can be then used tame a ladybug and well to get another achievement :). Also worth to mention that it's a good place to get a nice amount of charm points, as there is alot of different monsters all over the place.

For gaining War Exp we get Hive Fighter (300 War Exp) and Hive War Veteran (500 War Exp) achievements, 1 point each. Bane of the Hive (2 points) can be achieved after finishing the full Insectoid outfit. For taming Ladybug, we will get 3 points. North part of Quirefang gives us 22 achievements that are worth 61 points. We asked Veneficus which achievements were the easiest and which were the hardest.

Veneficus: The easiest ones are for completing 10 tasks, which takes just a few minutes to complete and the hardest one for me was the 'Bane of the Hive' achievement for completing the full Insectoid outfit by repeating those tasks over and over again. I don't know how many hours I have spent on this, but it was a huge time-consuming effort for sure.

Let’s continue our Trip to the Beach (1 point) and let’s move to Fiehonja. Here we can get 8 achievements, worth 25 points. Half of them we can get by killing 300 Deeplings of each class: Scouts, Spellsingers, Warriors and Guards.

Ryude/Elyrea: It feels weird just getting an achievement for killing 300 of a certain monster. In case of Grizzly Adam's tasks, there's a society behind it that awards specific boss kills, but the Fiehonja ones just don't seem to make much sense to me.
It's nice to get something extra for doing what you do anyway, as you kill more than the required amounts for your bestiary, but it does feel a little pointless.

Essiee: Back in 2016 and 2017 when I was doing these tasks bestiary didn’t exist yet. I would recommend to also keep an eye on your bestiary progress while working on the achievements in both hive and deepling area.

After talking to NPC Navigator, we will get 5 points. Full Deepling Outfit gives us 4 points. After taming Manta Ray we get 3 points. Easy, or? Let’s ask our achievement hunters what do they think.

Ryude/Elyrea: Starting with the only good part for Fiehonja: The achievements are easy to obtain (sort of), and "Navigational Error" grants fantastic insights into the story behind both the Deeplings and also all of Quirefang.
And that's all the good there is to say. The killing tasks are straightforward and easily done, but also rather boring and uneventful. Getting the three boss items for "Spolium Profundis" can feel like a lottery, and finding teams for bosses other than Jaul can prove to be difficult as most players prefer guaranteed profit over the random chance to get an item from Tanjis or Obujos. The worst, however, is "Gem Cutter". Playing on Antica, one of the most populated servers, players never let Fiehonja reach stage 1. Since I started playing I have never seen Fiehonja in stage 1 on my server, there is virtually no chance to obtain Gem Cutter without a world transfer.

Veneficus: Manta ray and deepling outfit achievements turned out to be quite expensive.

To make your adventure on Quirefang easier, we asked our professionals for some hints. Here they are.

Veneficus: Be patient on the hive tasks and you will finish them sooner or later. Keep killing monters behind the Hive Gates, so you won't have to visit this place again for bestiary. Also gathering items to complete deepling outfit and manta ray mount can be quite hard and expensive, so I would suggest to use the Favour points wisely and after taming the lady bug simply sell the gooey masses to complete remaining achievements on Quirefang.

Essiee: First stage tasks in the hive are pretty easy to do alone, but I would definitely recommend bringing a friend or two for the two harder tasks, as well as for killing the deeplings, especially if your character is not very high level. It will be a lot easier to share the workload.

Ryude/Elyrea
: Hive:
- Having map markers on the hive speeds things up immensely. Be aware of where antennae, pores and hive crystals are to increase your tasking speed
- Hotkey your stage 1 tasking items. Makes the entire ordeal much easier and quicker, especially if you ignore the monsters and just run
- For the dissolving task (Crawlers), just buy a bunch of Chitin Dissolver. Often other players kill Crawlers on their way through the area but don't dissolve them - which you can for a free extra flask
- For the same task, I found it a lot easier to just collect many Flasks of Dissolved Chitin (you can also try buying them from the market) and then ask a bunch of friends to spam the Swarmer Drum just in the beginning of the Hive surface. Just run back and forth and use the flasks on the Swarmer Hatchlings - it was a lot more comfortable than having to summon in the middle of the area when you are surrounded by monsters
- If the Floor Blobs just take forever to appear on the screen, rope yourself up and wait for a short time. You should be able to see them crawl their way to the southern part of the area rather quickly. Use the Battle List to not miss floor blobs.

Fiehonja:
- If you start the killing tasks on a low level, abuse hallways that are 1 sqm wide. There's a couple and only getting hit by one or two monsters increases your survivability, while still being able to hit multiple monsters
- You can find a lot of Deepling Scouts in Groam's area in the sunken mine, south-west of Kazordoon
- Killing Percht and Schiachs from the Winter Solstice event counts towards the "Depth Dwellers" achievement, which is the achievement for Deepling Warriors.

Let us know in the comments what do you think about Quirefang achievements.

Player of the Month #6: Elfo Fantasma

Our first Player of the Month in 2021 is Elfo Fantasma. He is an Elite Knight from the server Inabra and one of the admins of TibiaRia, a fansite about Tibian humor!

Can you introduce yourself? How old are you, what do you do in real life etc. -Hello! My real name is André, I am 31 years old, turning 32 in a week! On RL I am graduated in Agronomy with a PhD in Genetics & Plant Breeding and I work as a manager of plant science in a multinational company. Professional part aside, I enjoy playing PC and console games, specially RPGs, playing the guitar, playing with my daughter and my pets. Besides playing Tibia I run a Tibia fansite called TibiaRia. When and how did you start playing Tibia? -I started playing Tibia in 2004. There was this friend of mine, Staka, who went to school with me back in the days, we were on our 15’s and one day after the school he went to my house for lunch. After lunch we were on my computer talking about games and he said: ‘’Hey, there’s this game called Tibia, download it, it is awesome!”. Well, I did, he quit Tibia like a year later and here I am, 16 years after that. What is the background of your Tibian main character’s name? -It has everything to do with this friend of mine. My main char is Elfo Fantasma, which means Ghost Elf. Staka had a char called Elfo ~something~ (can’t remember what) and I was like, ok, so I will be Elfo Fantasma. Which aspect of the game do you enjoy the most?-Certainly the way you can make friends. Like real, good friends. I have a lot of friends who are now RL friends that I met in the game. There is no other game you can make friends that last like you can on Tibia.
What do you think is your biggest Tibia achievement? What are you the proudest of? -Well, being a old player I have to say that completing the Annihilator was the biggest achievement. Players that played on versions 7.4, 7.5, etc., knows what I am talking about. The Annihilator was the ultimate challenge for a Tibia player.

X or Y Thais or Venore -Thais War or neutral -Neutral Expensive equipment or decoration -Decoration Druids without sio or without paralyze runes

-Without paralyze Rapid respawn or double loot -Rapid respawn Knight outfit or retro knight outfit -Retro knight outfit Having level 2000 or having 200/200 skills on your level? -Level 2000 Solo or team hunt? -Team hunt, always Queen Eloise or King Tibianus Queen Eloise, girl power! Playing with bad internet or playing without gaming set -Without gaming set. Come on! I am from the time of the mouse with the ball inside it! The internet was pretty bad too, though! Is there any Tibia player you look up to? Or admire them for whatever reason. -There are a few, actually. Specially my friends. I play Tibia for almost 17 years now so me and my friends grew up together on Tibia and on real life, and my friends all became people to admire. From renowned players I have to say Arieswar, who I always admired as a player and after I met him I started to admire him as a person too.

You have your own fansite now, can you tell us what made you decide to create one? How did you pick the theme for the site? -That is a long story, but I will try to summarize it! Basically, I was retired from Tibia for 3 or 4 years when I went to the University, logging in occasionally just to check my char and talk with my friends. In that period of time, all my friends were retired too. After some time we all came back to the game coincidentally at the same time and Discord was a thing already when we started hunting again. Hunting with my friends was so funny and we laughed so hard all the time that we decided to expand that to everyone. First thing we did was a video for a TibiaTV contest, a very silly video where we did a newscast where we gave news that supposedly happened in the game, like the fatal accident between a knight with utani tempo hur and a sorcerer with utani gran hur on their mounts that collided. If you were meant to describe Tibia in one sentence, how would you describe it? -That is the hardest one. I don’t know, maybe: The graphics are not good but the gameplay and the friends you make are awesome! What is your best Tibia memory? -Not a single memory but absolutely the time when we knew nothing about Tibia, when there were no wikis and you had no idea what you could find while exploring. That feeling that you could find a Demon in your way but you were actually just crossing from Thais to Fibula.

Do you think that playing Tibia taught you something?

-Absolutely! It taught me English, of course. But also taught me that true friends will always be on your side and that good people in the game are most likely good people in real life too. The opposite is also true.

Do you have any encouraging words for the community?
-The vaccine is coming and we will soon be able to be close to people we love! In the game, don’t be an a**hole, everyone is playing just to have some fun and you never know what the person behind the keybords is going through. Be kind to each other!
