Balancing Changes and Goshnar's Tribute
Tibians, after further observing and analysing hunting behaviour in the Soul War hunting grounds, CipSoft still considers both their XP and loot too high, especially in regards to the level ranges that are currently able to hunt there profitably.
Also, while taints already pose a challenge, albeit mainly in regards to bosses, they do not yet impact hunts on a grander scale. They want to change that.
In order to address both aspects, they have decided to curb the XP and loot in this area again but also to reward players if they take on a higher risk.
Therefore, the following changes will be implemented on June 1, server save:
- XP and loot of all normal monsters in the Soul War hunting grounds will be lowered by ~12%.
- Those who are willing to take on a challenge will be able to increase their gains from normal monsters there through Goshnar's tribute:
Each taint grants an experience boost of 4.5%. Additional taints raise the experience points these 4.5% will yield due to compound interest. Moreover, each taint will also give you a 4.5% chance for a second loot roll.
For a party, the member with the lowest number of taints within shared experience range will be the reference for Goshnar's tribute and determines the boost for the whole party:
- Example 1) A has 1, B has 2, C has 1, D has 1 = Goshnar's tribute for the party is 1 which yields 4.5% XP bonus and a 4.5% chance for an additional loot roll
- Example 2) A has 1, B has 2, C has 1, D has 1, E has 0 = Goshnar's tribute for the party is 0 which means no XP and loot bonus through taints
The higher the number of taints, the higher the risk, and the higher the bonus you can get. Handling taints, especially several ones, requires sufficient strength and focus, and also guts, which fits very well with our vision for the Soul War hunting grounds. You can check the list of changes in the affected creatures and a few more details here.
On a general note, they will, of course, continue to observe and analyse huntings grounds across Tibia since balancing is an on-going process so further changes will be made in the course of time.

Eternal Hate
Far outside the furthest reaches of the mind's constructs, deep inside the neverending abyss, removed from the existence of impermanence, there lies a stead where evil, decay, and death collapse in on themselves to form a festering mass – hating, eternally.
If an unfortunate soul were by whatever means able to pierce the veil of nothingness, and arrive in this space beyond oblivion, they would find themselves locked fast in the grasp of doom, as in the distance they would hear an incessant voice devoid of all reason, drawing ever closer, and the sound of inevitability would ring in their ears.

Whispers in the Deep
Bram could not help himself but let out a big yawn as he trudged through the mineshaft, pickaxe in hand. He was one of three prospectors who had been sent out to explore this uncharted area below Kazordoon, a fairly routine affair for them which did not elicit much excitement. Bram would have much preferred to sleep a while longer instead of getting up at the crack of dawn, and thoughts of his warm, cosy bed occupied his mind as he was barely able to keep his eyes open. Merely a little rest...
You are so tired. You need to sleep. Just a short nap. Lie down. Lie down.
Bram spun around. Now wide awake, his gaze was trying in vain to pierce the pitchblack darkness which filled the mineshaft ahead. Nothing stirred in front of him, as his heartbeat drummed up a storm.
"Is somebody there?", did he finally inquire, quietly, as not to awaken something inside the tunnel.
Again, no response but a dark maw starring at him. The dwarf tried to calm his nerves. He was tired, did not have his wits about him. No reason to panic.
You can be one of us. Join us. Join us.
"Who said that?!", shouted Bram. The voice sounded so near. Sweat formed on his forehead.
"Said what?"
Skagi had appeared behind him, with Agvald approaching as well. Both prospectors looked curiously at their colleague.
"That wasn't you? Tell me that was you!"
"What in Durin's name are you even talking about?"
"Those whispers! That... voice."
Agvald and Skagi looked at him with a mix of confusion and concern, before exchanging a disturbed look.
"Are you alright? You don't look too good."
"I'm fine, I'm fine. I mean... I'm a little tired, but... what I heard..."
"Maybe you should lie down. Just a short nap."
"Wha... what did you just say?"
They mock you behind your back. No one can be trusted. They are planning and scheming.
"A nap might do you good is all I'm saying."
Your friends are weak. They will give in to the voices. They will kill you.
"Stay away from me!" screamed Bram as he ran back to Kazordoon as if the elder gods themselves were after him, leaving behind two very befuddled dwarves.

Buried Secrets
It was a hot day in Issavi.
Only a few people strolled through the streets of Kilmaresh's capital, while most remained inside or sought shelter from the burning sun in the shade.
Heyred would have much preferred to join the vast majority of city folk who were escaping the bright beams shining down from above, but he was waiting for someone in the city square. His eyes fell upon one of the wanted posters plastered on a nearby wall.
... Those individuals are known cultists of Fafnar. They have to be consigned to the Sapphire Blade by all means!
"Hey! Hope the scorching sun hasn't melted your brain yet."
Heyred turned around, and Merwin's bright smile greeted his tired gaze.
"Yeah, maybe meeting up here wasn't the best idea after all."
"You picked the spot, remember?"
"I do. Who could have predicted it was going to be a hot day in Issavi.", he said drily.
"See it as a learning experience. Speaking of learning something, I've found out something interesting, too. Let's move inside where it's cooler, shall we?"
"Sounds good to me." Heyred glanced over the wanted poster one last time. "Isn't it weird how they still haven't found at least one of the four? They've been looking for them for months now, if not years."
"Focus. The knowledge I have acquired will change our fortunes, I am certain of it!" Merwin was brimming with excitement.
"Oh yeah? Like you were certain when you found that 'authentic' bonelord language dictionary or discovered 'true' boots of waterwalking?"
"Ah, don't be like that. This is the real deal!"
Heyred sighed. "Alright, I'll bite. What did you hear?"
"So, beneath the sands of Kilmaresh lie the ruins of Nuur, a city which sank ages ago below the dunes. Untouched since it went under. And I know how we can get there. Imagine what riches wait to be found inside by us!"
"What's the catch?"
"Well, it appears that we are not the first adventurers trying to explore that place, and none returned. So, it might just be a bit dangerous."
"Shocking. And I thought you said the city was untouched – how do those adventurers factor into that assessment?"
"Fine, as good as untouched, since nobody made it out alive. Meaning whatever treasure was buried is still there. So, what do you say?"
"Alright, I'm in." He did not exactly have a lot of other prospects lined up right now.
"Terrific. Oh, and there's also this seeress which needs help, we should check that out as well. Might be worthwhile."
"One step at a time.", replied Heyred as they set foot into the magic shop. They needed to be well prepared for whatever awaited them under the wastes of Kilmaresh.

Galthen and the Lost Queen
Galthen sighed. He had hoped to have acquired more pertinent information by now about that which he sought. His quest for magical artefacts had brought him here, to Bounac, a yet fledgling settlement which had the markings of becoming at least a decent town at some point, should its development continue unhindered. For now, a lot of the buildings which were to stand here one day were but a figment of an architect's imagination. However, the town's pub was already standing, as nary a thing would get done without the help of some fresh brew to ease the reality of living on this rock. Galthen had held off on frequenting the place as from his experience, such an establishment would certainly provide one with information, though the veracity of claims made under the influence of ale was often quite dubious. Nevertheless, he was out of options by now.

A quiet atmosphere greeted him as he entered – not entirely unsurprising, considering that the sun stood high outside. However, a few patrons were already wetting their gullet at the bar.
"What can I get you, sir?"
The innkeeper kept polishing his glass as he addressed the seasoned knight.
"A bit of knowledge would gladden me the most, to be honest."
"Not sure you're in the right place for that. You won't even find a book in here."
"I've seen enough of those lately, trust me. Alas, most of the wisdom in the world has not been written down and remains inside the heads of beings like you and I."
"Ah, very well then, I might help with that after all. You'd have to purchase something first though – I've still got a business to run, you see."
Galthen reached into his pocket and put a few gold coins on the counter.
"Will that do?"
The innkeeper slightly raised an eyebrow.
"For that kind of money, I'll tell you my family secrets if you wish. Well, at least those on my father's side."
"That won't be necessary. Have you heard anything about a magical artefact located here?"
"Magical artefact? Can't say that I have, sorry."
As Galthen moved his hand towards the coins, he hastened to add to this answer.
"But I've heard other things, you see. There's a noble woman missing, who just up and left one day, leaving behind her husband and her newborn daughter. They say she behaved a bit odd before she left, a few days before it happened, but that might just be talk, now that she's gone. That's not all though. Kesar Etzel ordered his men to seal the entrance to the lower parts of the fortress. Nobody knows exactly why, but something must have terrified him, something which they found down there. They say there's a vast network of tunnels underneath Bounac, and who knows what stalks those dark places."
The knight paused for a moment and pondered what he had just heard.
"Where did that noblewoman live, and where is her husband now?"
"He still lives there. It's just down the road, the third house on the right."
"You have my thanks."
Galthen put another coin before the inkeeper and left the tavern. It did not seem that he was any closer to the artefact he was looking for, and instead had found new questions he certainly had not sought. Questions which needed answering...

Roshamuul Achievements (Part I)
Roshamuul, an island that got implemented in Winter Update 2013. Huge space with many challenges and secrets to discover. From the moment it went online, it was a very big challenge for Tibians, both in terms of the difficulty level of the monsters and enormous amount of tasks. The multitude of those tasks and secrets that it offers us takes hundreds if not thousands of hours. Today we will try to introduce you to one of the elements that Roshamuul offers us - Achievements. Do you wonder what were the biggest problems that Cipsoft faced with designing all the quests, tasks and bosses in Roshamuul?
Lionet, Tibia Game Content Design: A challenge we faced was the design of the quests themselves. We tried to build mechanics which offer flexibility and replayability at the same time. The difficulty of the area should come from the encounters alone. We decided to put smaller, accessible quests in the lower part and tell more of the Roshamuul background after the wall has been breached. The different approaches are still recognisable in the overall design but together with the permanent changes of the map, I believe we still succeeded in delivering a bit of variety and unconventional Tibia lore.
Nevermending Story (3 points)
Most of the achievements that you can gain on Roshamuul need a lot of time and patience. Many people struggle with this one, because it is not up to them where and when which bottle will appear. Sometimes it can even take months to get it! The rarest bottle appears in Mawhawk Lair. You can trigger the Lair to open by making „Desecrating Shrines” tasks – you need to make around 500 of them. Good news is, that they multiply and are not getting any reset within server save.
Lothlorian: There are two or three players I see in Roshamuul often, and every time Mawhawks lair is open, exclaiming about the lack of a bottle. So I think it's a team effort, opening the lair as often as we can.
Zuali: It took me pretty long to get that achievement, but to be honest, I wasn’t much active in terms of looking for the bottles. I was fishing it with my friend, only one bottle was missing. He was checking the spawns every day for someone else and he told me what bottle was there each day. I never felt the pressure to make it.

Gizenha: Well, I got it in 3 months! Yes! Was so fast because where I play (Lutabra), players love to open the Mawhawk’s area. Sometimes the are was open and nothing was there :( I checked all bottles every day in 3 months.
Never Surrender (3 points)
Here we go, let’s start with some „killing” achievements! To make Sights of Surrender spawn inGuzzlemaw Valley, a certain task is needed to be done, 100 times. We are talking here about Blowing Horns. It is worth to add, that this task gives us also 100 Inquisition gold EACH, which we can change later for Clusters of Solace (needed for making Umbral Weapons). There is also a spawn called the Dark Grounds, north of the Roshamuul depo. To make it open, it is needed to make Soothing Bad Dreams task 20 times, those tasks stack, so you don’t need to make them in one day. It has total of 6 Sights of Surrender, divided in two rooms, three monsters each. It is really good idea to open this spawn for rapid respawn. We can also fight 3-5 Sights of Surrender during raid on the Silencer Plateau, but we will come back to it in Luring Silence achievement.
Shizurie: „Never Surrender” achievement took me more than 1 hour to complete. We were killing (in around 8 people) Sight of Surrenders creatures in Roshamuul’s Dark Grounds, which somebody opened just before Rapid Respawn Event. I think I could complete this achievement during usual hunts at Roshamuul, but it would take me much longer! And killing 2500 of them would be sooo painful.
Ending the Horror (2 points)
Upper Roshamuul is full of Retching Horrors. You need to kill 100 of them to complete A Retched Beginning task. Even if you didn’t talk to Dream Butterfly before killing those monsters, your kills will still count. Also, you will get 3x Essence of Dread from the NPC, which you can exchange for 1 Cluster of Solace. You can repeat this task as many times as you wish, have in mind that the cooldown to take the task again takes two hours.Noblesse Obliterated (6 points)
To kill Prince Drazzak, you will need a team of 5 players and a golden prison key. You can buy it on
market or get it from Unrealized Dream, if you are lucky enough. We would recommend you to read about the strategy of that boss before you decide to fight him. According to Tibia Fandom, Sorcerers (death dmg) and Druids (earth dmg) can get up to 14000 damage from his AoE spell. The battle can last up to 25 minutes, depending on your team power and how many times Prince Drazzak will heal. It is also recommended to wear Death damage protection. And then, of course, enjoy your freshly taken six points of achievements!
Prison Break (8 points)
Knightmare, Tibia Game Content Design: Well, if two evil demons love each other very, very much the demon stork might bring them a little baby demon. It also has to do with demon bees and demon flowers, but we here at CipSoft are no experts on such topics; everyone I asked for help in answering this question left blushing and giggling. Apart from that, Gaz'haragoth grew into a quite powerful demon on his own right and was put in charge as a kind of overseer for Roshamuul, even though a certain explosion had somewhat mutated him.
Luring Silence (2 points)

New Outfit
A new outfit has been added to the Store today!
The Forest Warden watches over all living things in the woods, be they plants or beasts. They have a special connection to the earth they tread on, the air they breathe, and the wind which whispers around them. Naturally, the suit that they don is not made out of dead vegetation, but is a living being itself.
Once bought, your character can wear this outfit anytime. The outfit is purely cosmetic and does not bestow any benefits.

Your Goals #15 : Lothlorian: Roshamuul Accomplishment
I studied the map (on tibiawiki) and marked the two northern spots, and the southernmost one. The ones that are close by each other in the south (north of the southernmost one) I rejected.
I used to put on my most defensive gear and as many garlic necklaces as I could fit in my backpack, and started running. As soon as I got to one of the half-buried faces I'd throw an e-bomb and fight for my life until the spot was clear. Then I could use broken dreams in peace.
Mostly I went back and forth between the two northernmost spots, but the times when I kept spawning nightmares I lost patience and went to the spot at the far south, close to the wall.
While I was working on this achievement I remember thinking that it was a boring, monotonous (and dangerous!) grind. I despise repetitive tasks (This was before I had started working on the War Against the Hive quest).
In retrospect, this task is easy. I don't remember the cooldown of this mission, but now, 150 or so levels later, I do this task several times per day to farm points for clusters.
I think that as long as you are comfortable with running around Roshamuul and know the safe spots and stairs by heart, it's no big deal.
Never surrender is a quite simple achievement. It will be tough if you're not skilled/leveled enough to kill the sights of surrender, but that is just a matter of protection and skills. I still struggle with killing off the spawn if I get 5 sights, but it's not complicated.
I halfheartedly started to work on this achievement by just running through Rosha once in a while and looking for the bottle in the easy spots. When I got to 7 or 8 messages I felt it was time to make an actual effort, so I marked the remaining spots on my mini-map and made it a part of my daily routine to check.
I'm embarrassed to say that it took me a little too long to figure out how to get the one where you levitate down from the central mountain.
Eventually I got to 10/11 messages, and since then I've been doing shrine tasks every day and so far I have opened Mawhawks lair 5 or 6 times, but with no luck.
Sometimes I see the message stay in the same spot for 3 days straight, but whenever I look for it and realise that I cant find it (so it has to be in Mawhawks lair) and start grinding the shrine task, it has always moved by the time I make the lair open.
There are two or three players I see in Roshamuul often, and every time Mawhawks lair is open, exclaiming about the lack of a bottle.
So I think it's a team effort, opening the lair as often as we can.
Personally I make average around 150 desecrated shrines/day.
Don't even ask about the crafting achievements. I have managed to make the bow, xbow, 2handed sword, and 1handed club. This task is just mindlessly boring, and not a real challenge to anyone I think. As long as you're strong enough to survive running around Rosha and farming horns, there is no real challenge here, only boredom and stubbornness.
If you're rich enough to buy all the clusters you need to craft every weapon you're wasting your cash. Buy a grey tome or something.
This is my least favourite part of Tibia, the achievements that demand an insane amount of time or all the cash you can scrape together and then some.
I prefer achievements that anyone can get, regardless of kk's in the bank or levels in the counter. I dont mind a challenge, but when a highlevel is in an advantage just because of the high level and the high earnings that come with it, it gets me down a bit.
If an achievement has to be mindnumbingly boring, at least make it equally hard for everyone, like Fearless. Any person with a laptop can make a char and go to Horestis tomb every day, there's no cheating with that one.
Don't get me wrong, I still hate all these insane achieves, but at least that one is equal in the way that you cannot buy the progress in breaking jars.

CipSoft's 20th Anniversary
Hear ye, hear ye, dear Tibians! A special day is soon upon us, as on June 08, it is CipSoft's 20th anniversary!
CipSoft GmbH was formed four years after Tibia was born on January 07, 1997. The game was still a student project back then, before the original four creators of Tibia founded CipSoft in 2001. The company still operates independently, just as it did in the early days, even though it has grown in size considerably since then. Tibia's success made this growth possible, and led to the continued development of Tibia as well as the creation of new games.
The last 20 years have often been eventful, challenging, and exciting, as is to be expected with the development of a long-lasting game and the passionate community surrounding it. Cipsoft hopes to add many more years to them, and they hope that you will stay with them along the way. They are very grateful for the support they have received from you, the players, throughout the years, and for the love that you have shown towards Tibia.
To celebrate this special occasion in style, there will be a double XP/skill event and a double loot event taking place concurrently from Wednesday, June 02, until Monday, June 07. That is not all, however!
Cipsoft is also holding a "Caption This!" contest once again, for which they have prepared a scene in Tibia which is in need of a funny, witty, or heartwarming caption, which they invite you to share with them. Your caption may contain up to 3 sentences and can be speech or thought bubbles, or a short description of the picture. There are of course prizes to be won as well!

Submit your captions by posting in the designated thread until Wednesday, May 26, 10:00 CEST. Please make sure to read the contest rules before posting.
The community managers will then choose our top 20 submissions, and announce them in a news article. The top 3 of these winners will be rewarded with 2000 Tibia Coins and a CM token each. The other 17 winners will be rewarded with 250 Tibia Coins and a CM token each. Cipsoft is very much looking forward to your submissions and reading some creative and entertaining captions!
Last but not least, as you might have noticed, another very important milestone is not too far away: On January 07, 2022, Tibia's 25th anniversary will take place. We are already very excited to celebrate Tibia's birthday in style!
